My reasoning is similar. I have read the arguments back and forth here
with great interest, and I've come to accept that AUCTex is a
"separate application" that warrants attention all its own, as opposed
to being a normal package like the others included with XEmacs. It's
unfortunate, and it's extra installation work for each user to take
on, but I do see that each side here has valid arguments, and I don't
see it as my place to call for either side to concede.
