AFAIK, no problems have been reported on 21.5 related to the
ORDINARY_LINK change there. The new 21.4 leadership will be favorably
disposed towards reverting linux to ORDINARY_LINK when I take over. :-)

By Steve? The comments look like him. I don't have a problem with
doing this (in fact, I think it's already been done in 21.5 for module
sanity, with no problems yet reported).
I believe that Steve indicated that the problem manifested itself with
an older version of gcc, but apparently no one has yet been bitten by
this under 21.5, so I think we can go ahead and make the change.
