I prefer not to trust that the manual explains completely what the
differences are. Especially in the case of CVS; I know that the
manual is very incomplete about topics like branches, and I know that
the software itself is buggy.
I don't like relying on such software to Do The Right Thing, when we
can (and should; why are we manipulating Lisp forms as text?) fix the
problem internally.
