I verified this to work for me in a vanilla
(emacs-version)

Does this work in a vanilla XEmacs for you?
I have enough buffers so that I can scroll the buffer, and I do.
I get urged to answer the minibuffer, which I do with y.
A buffer showing navigatable matches appears.
