Sounds great if it can be done..
Theoretically it could even be brought down to an actual query of the
mouse. With an unix a 'xmodmap -pp' might give us the number of buttons. But
how do we get them on Win & Mac? But the 'global' thing will also work, and
might even set other things to make XEmacs behave more natural to the platform
(selecting text on Windows using shift-cursor).
