HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\AppPaths\ doesn't exit. Although,
there is
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\, but xemacs...
does not exist under it.
Sorry, my mistake - the latter is correct but should contain something like
xemacs-21.4.9.exe. It seems strange that this does not exist. Did you use a
new setup.exe? Did you install with adminstrator priviledges?
>From
http://www.xemacs.org/Download/win32/, "Do not use
Cygwin
ftp in native
Windows XEmacs! It does not work. Just rename cygwin/bin/ftp.exe to
cygwin/bin/ftp.exe.orig and EFS should work as well."
Oh, ok.
However, the menus and toolbar still work. To unhang XEmacs, all
one must do
is click "File, Open" or the toolbar equivalent; then cancel the dialogue
box, instead of loading a file. Afterwards, XEmacs works OK until the next
hang. Whereupon, one may recover again.
This sounds like the same event loop problem that native users were seeing.
I
think fixing it requires a patch to cygwin.
