I might be able to compile and install into /usr/local; if time's
on my side this weekend.
FWIW (I missed the RH version) I have binary and source RPMs of RH's
latest rawhide "backported" to 9 + a fix against the "stack overflow in
regexp matcher bug" at http://cachalot.mine.nu/9/
