Dear Bug Team!
XEmacs does not transfer the latest copied text to the Gnome/X/Sawfish
desktop clipboard. GNU Emacs seems to have exactly the same problem.
I notice this most often when I try to cut and paste code samples into
email (I use Ximian Evolution 1.2.4).
To reproduce:
- Open Ximian Evolution 1.2.4 and create a new mail message.
- Open XEmacs (or GNU Emacs)
- Copy/kill some text into the kill ring
- Switch back to your new mail message in Ximian and try to paste:
Nothing happens.
The same thing happens when I try to paste to gedit. I am using
RedHat9. I can paste from other applications to emacs fine. I would
be really surprised if no-one else had reported this bug.
How do I expect it to work? The last thing I cut/copied to my kill
ring should be transferred to the desktop clipboard when emacs looses
it's focus (when I switch to another application). Even if you could
implement this for text-only, that would be great.
I have other projects I'm working on now and my C skills are
rusty, but I could work on fixing this if no-one else is. Just let me
know.
