Your assumption is correct, however there are some really nasty bugs in 1.9
that have been fixed in 1.9.xx and 1.9.28 & 1.9.29 are considered pretty
stable. For instance if you are thinking of working in a homogenous
environment (i.e. with windows clients) I would definitely use 1.9.29 as a
server rather than 1.9.
