Dear Bug Team!
I have just started using XEmacs and it crashed almost immediatly.
I am using a more-or-less standard Ubuntu 7.10 with current patches
in the AMD/x64 system and have installed the 'xemacs21-gnome-mule'
package from the Ubuntu universe. When I start xemacs and select (as
first action) "Options"/"Syntax highlighting"/"In this
buffer", XEmacs
dies immediatly, crashing with "Gnome-Message:
gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1".
It seems that this bug report
http://calypso.tux.org/pipermail/xemacs-beta/2007-February/010831.html
reports a pretty similar occurance on a Darwin system.
Is the bug known? What might the cause be?
Thanks for the bug report.
The bug that you cited is well known and is caused by the progress
bar. Without more details, it's hard to know whether your report is
related, but it may be, because you are using gtk-widgets. Does this
command:
(setq progress-feedback-use-echo-area t)
prevent your crash? If not, please post lisp and C backtraces,
ideally generated from an XEmacs started with the '-vanilla' option.
Thank you,
Vin
