Unless this is some manifestation of the re_max_failures too
small bug, this is actually the first report I have heard of
this.
What kind of support from Fedora or Red Hat would help you
going forward for future releases?

Actually for our current releases this is not true: emacs
won't build on ix86 without using "setarch i386" due to
changes in our ix86 kernel's brk behaviour: the problem
doesn't affect xemacs if built with pdump. :)
