Some major modes have special rules for indenting certain kinds of comments in certain contexts. For example, in Lisp code, comments which start with two semicolons are indented as if they were lines of code, instead of at the comment column. Comments which start with three semicolons are supposed to start at the left margin. Emacs understands these conventions by indenting a double-semicolon comment using TAB and by not changing the indentation of a triple-semicolon comment at all. You have a valid point, though. single-; comments srarting in column 0 should not be moved and comment-region would work as advertised! You opened my eyes! To All: Isn't this what we should do? EFS 1.20pre1 bug: set ls switches for efs only? 22 years, 7 months

Gruss bug team: not a bug, really, but I have my dired switches set to "-abl", but the ftp I'm connecting to: denmark% ftp ftp194.pair.com Connected to isris.pair.com. 220 ftp194.pair.com NcFTPd Server (licensed copy) ready. Name (ftp194.pair.com:turner): anonymous 331 Guest login ok, send your complete e-mail address as password. only allows a subset of ls switches, so when I connect with efs I see: ftp> ls -abl 200 PORT command successful. 504 Only ls flags accepted are -C, -F, -l, -t, -r, -1, -S, -L, -R, and -p. now I could easily live without the -b option, but they don't even allow -a, which I definitely want for normal dired buffers I looked around in the efs customize options but didn't see a way to set ls switches specifically for efs clearly the remote system is broken, but what's the best way to work around it, other than setting dired's ls switches for this machine? thanks -- John A. I marked a bunch of files in pcl-cvs mode. Then I chose "undo changes" from the menu. It prompts "Delete 8 files?". Rather misleading.

I am trying C-x C-z runs the command suspend-or-iconify-emacs Don't suspect your neighbor: report him! This is (emacs-version) "XEmacs 21.5 (beta1) \"anise\" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Fri Jun 08 2001 on D5DC120J" built from latest CVS on Windows 2000 SP2. First time iconification works fine. After restoring the XEmacs frame via the Windows taskbar, subsequent use of C-x C-z runs the command suspend-or-iconify-emacs fails to work and reports already iconified? in the minibuffer. ediff adding stray separators to Tools menu 23 years, 4 months

I have experienced following cosmetic problem in XEmacs 21.1.14 and now in XEmacs 21.5-b1: After evalling (require 'ediff-hook) (require 'ediff) in a vanilla XEmacs, the Tools menu has three extra separators at its end. Inspection of ediff-hook.el of ediff 1.30 1.30 Interface over GNU patch. suggests the problem is here: ;; Note we wrap this in a progn so that we pick up the whole def ;; for auto-autoload. That way we do not load ediff-hook.el when defining ;; the menus. ;;;###autoload (progn (defun ediff-xemacs-init-menus () (if (featurep 'menubar) (progn (add-submenu '("Tools") ediff-menu "OO-Browser...") xemacs/vm freeze 23 years, 4 months

This bug report will be sent to the XEmacs Development Team, not to your local site managers!! Please write in English, because the XEmacs maintainers do not have translators to read other languages for them. In XEmacs 21.4 (patch 2) "Developer-Friendly Unix APIs" [Lucid] (i686-pc-linux, Mule) of Tue May 22 2001 on iqara configured using `configure --with-mule --with-pop' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: Sorry I cannot give much technical detail, but I have an annoying problem. If I leave xemacs and vm (6.92) running unattended, the programs consistently freeze. Sometimes it happens within minutes, sometimes it takes hours. I also notice that sometimes even if I run vm-save-folder as the last thing I do, there is still a more recent autosave file with vm (which is the file as it was before vm-save-folder). I don't know what other information to give you. So please let me know what other information to provide.I did try running "gdb /usr/local/bin/xemacs" and then "run" under gdb. At that point the following was returned: Cannot access memory at address 0x40017e20 I am running xemacs under kde 2.2alpha2, if that is relevant. xemacs 21.4 under w2k and packages 23 years, 4 months

I installed XEmacs using the net-installer (nice!) on Windows 2000 but didn't select all packages, so later I wanted to download one I forgot... I don't have I:... shouldn't it pickup where the runtime files are?
