After running some period of time, xemacs will reset pending-delete
to
off and any highlighted paren blocks will stay highlighted
forever. Once this problem begins, I can turn pending-delete back on
and it will work for a random period of time before getting turned off
again until I restart xemacs. The paren highlights never
go away until I restart. This definitely looks like a memory
corruption issue. This problem seems to happen more often if I have a
very large file (e.g., a debug log) loaded.
Xemacs is in its corrupted mode now as I am typing this.
I have noticed the paren bug for several releases over the past couple
of years. The pending-delete part seems to have been introduced more
recently, perhaps with the v. 21 series.
BTW, the only wm loaded on this system is fvwm 2.3.27. It seems to
have its own problems (needs frequent resets/restarts) which may or
may not be related to the one above.
FWIW, I am seeing the same problem on a .el file :-(
I am running RedHat 7.3 on an x86 using the PWM window manager. No
large files, the biggest is probably about 15k. I have never seen it
before 21.4.10.
