He's probably still reachable: http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs-ja/JuanLeonLahozGarcia. But that page says that wdired is now "in Emacs", so he's probably signed papers and it's owned by the FSF. ... Yup, there it is. You might want to do a diff to see anything has changed, but it's probably best to use the Emacs version. I just checked the version in http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/wdired.el There are some tiny differences to the version I use. So I propose some further testing. I am really sorry that I can never remember the issue with the FSF. Depends on the license (GPL is always OK) and whether it's a complete "work" in itself (OK, we just take their version and their license), or a patch (impractical for manuals because FDL and our doc license are incompatible both ways). In this case it's GPL code, so no problem.
