Yes. C-g cancels the incremental search, which means that it backs up
the point to where it was, and forgets the old search string.
Can you give me an example where that would be useful.
I very often use isearch to just look something up below and then type
C-g to get back where I was. Although I am trying to get used to using
vcursor.el for that kind of stuff.
