Andy Piper <andyp(a)parallax.co.uk> writes in xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org:
The current package delete is great but too optimistic in its
operation. I often end up having the delete fail so that the
install doesn't work, but the delete has worked enough so that I
don't have the package adn so I am left with a subfucntional
XEmacs. Package delete whould try and do all its housekeeping
*before* actually nuking the package.
O.K.
In my hand installations since the introduction of pkginfo/, I have
not had a single failure updating by hand via
$ rm `cat pkginfo/MANIFEST.<package>`
$ tar zxf <staging>/<package>-pkg.tar.gz
There's hope this can work correctly.
