Due to the mistake in the packaging, we decided that it
wasn't worth
announcing the release on usenet, all the more that the first patch level
(21.1 series) will be out very soon. There will be an official announcement
for that.
Who is "we" here? I think this a big mistake.
Please visit the XEmacs homepage at
http://www.xemacs.org !
21.0 is announced on the web site and 21.0.67 sits in the non-beta
directory. You cannot go on pretending it wasn't released. I think
each day this release limbo continues is just making us look like
fools. Waiting for some 21.1.1 is a bad idea. There is simply nothing
to put in it. Sure I know some stuff that needs to go in there
(Hrvoje's fix for the x-win-init-sun-crash, the fix for the glibc 2.1
problems, my line number cache fixes and in the long run my customize
fixes) but these need to be tested first, which is happening because
they aren't even in 21.2 or in the 21.1/21.0 cvs branch.
I would be much happier if all these patches were accumulated on a
patch page on the web first and in the CVS just like between 20.3 and
20.4.
