Then this problem would never have appeared. You would also be able
to C-x o your way out of an isearch and later return to it by
jumping into the minibuffer again.
That would IMHO be vastly different (and worse) from what Isearch has
done traditionally. I don't *want* C-x o to return me to isearch; I
want it to terminate the search and change windows. The reason
isearch is such a cool feature is that it allows you to do things with
very little keystrokes. This is why it is not conceptually similar to
minibuffers.
