This is #3 on my list of XEmacs bugs to squash, so don't worry: if you
don't get to it, I will.
Hi Nix, I found gc variable settings to make a big difference.
Especially increasing the gc.*incremental variables helps a lot, which
suggests major problems especially in gc-incremental.
Just guesses by now.
