Xt is not much more in the past than X itself. No Xlib-only toolkit
can be the "toolkit of the future". Giving up Xt just removes one or two
really important problems, but also prevents you from using useful features
that people are accustomed to use. The "toolkit of the future" will be
"the
toolkit using the future replacement for X"[1].
