By convention, predicates usually have names that end in `?'. A mutation procedure is a procedure that alters a data structure. By convention, mutation procedures usually have names that end in `!'. I'd suggest keeping it and whatever we do to keep 'imenu-syntax-alist in sync: (set (make-local-variable 'imenu-syntax-alist) '(("+-*/.<>=?$%_&~^:" . "w"))) I'd suggest to move that word constituent string into a defconst and using it in dsssl-font-lock-keywords and 'imenu-syntax-alist.
