Yeah, well, it's not interactive on GNU Emacs, either.

Unfortunately, that will mean that either we or the package
maintainers who use that argument will have to maintain
XEmacs-specific code there. I think maybe the thing to do is put a
place-holder arg there so we don't do something with it that will
result in people writing code that breaks when moved to GNU Emacs.
I keep trying to believe there's something more than "let's make work
for XEmacs" to these innovations, but stuff like this makes it hard.
