Since Windows XP is basically Windows 2000 under the hood, and since the
problem is being seen with two different to X servers, I guess it sounds
like the problem is really with Xemacs and the long ping times rather than
the X server or its hosting operating system. It would be nice to see if
the problem occurs when the local machine is running Linux. Unfortunately,
I don't have any easy way to do this test.
I might actually be able to test it tomorrow, both with Exceed and
Linux. Stay tuned...
