I've just released an updated version of VM (the old one wasn't reporting the correct version number). Get it by: Options -> Manage Packages -> Add Download Site -> Pre-Releases [1] M-x package-get-all RET vm RET "Version 1.28" will display in minibufffer, hit RET to begin download. For XEmacs 21.2.x replace "Options -> Manage Packages" with "Tools -> Packages". Footnotes: [1] In XEmacs 21.2 this step downloads the package-index file.
