This is somewhat off-topic, but it does relate to XEmacs.
On my solaris box, gnome-terminals want to use Alt key to do
command-line editing with bash. But after decades (gasp!) of XEmacs
usage, I want to use Meta key. (Note that xterms work just fine with
Meta).
The Sun keyboard basically looks like this:
CapsLock | Alt | Meta (diamond) | spacebar | Meta (diamond) | Compose | Alt graph

Hi Ray:
Actually, Sun sells 2 types of keyboards: Unix and PC. What you have
described is the Unix layout. The PC keyboard is more PC and Mac-like:
Control | Meta | Alt | spacebar | Alt Graph | Meta | Compose
So, we switched our users to the PC layout. You can find the keyboard
in the country kit which also has the right power cord for your country.
And conveniently, has Alt right where you want it :o)
