Does typing C-g help (instead of the SIGINT)? The popup menu lisp
interface is fairly ugly, so it could be that the lisp code behind
the menu is not catching things correctly. I fixed a few such bugs
before. I am trying to distinguish that case from a real hang in the C
part.
