Take a look at your build reports. They're truncated at 1500+ lines,
still somewhere in the compile of alloc.c.
Adrian, would you fix up a way for M-x build-report to _count_ the
number of bogus warnings that GCC emits? We really don't want to turn
off inlining, and I don't think we want to turn off the warnings,
either (with the performance problems Steve is reporting, we may want
to break up complex DECLARE_INLINE_HEADER functions so that they
actually get inlined).
Steve, can you please turn off Mail-Copies-To: never for
xemacs-build-reports and private mail? I can't even get C-u C-c C-t
to work.

That's a feature! I'm subscribed to all the XEmacs lists that I post
to so there is _*NEVER*_ any reason to Cc me on any of the mailing
lists. And because I delete dups and split privately addressed mail
_after_ list mail and don't cross-split, you'd be wasting your time
anyway.
The times that you have noticed MCT: never on private mail from me is
when I've replied or forwarded directly to you from one of the lists
and I've forgotten to remove the header before I send it. That's my
bad and I apologise for those occasions. One of these days I'll come
up with a hack to remove that header when I've R'd or C-c C-f'd
instead of F'd.

The problem is that I have to remember who uses MCT. For most of the
world, "F" in Gnus does exactly what I want it to do. For the
(relatively rare) MCT users, I have to remember to type "R", and then
add any other non-list addresses.

Could be. What I would like to do is to reply to a mail from a, to b
and c, where c is a mailing list that a is subscribed to, with the
addresses being a and b. If a does not use MCT: never, I use F/f, and
use a mouse gesture and C-w to get rid of the mailing list c. If a
does use MCT: never, AFAICT I must add addresses by hand, which is
unreliable.
Is that false?

I don't know, I had a hard time following your scenario. Here's one
of my own, to make sure we're on the same wavelength:
I post to xemacs-beta with Gnus and Cc my wife.
Michelle isn't subscribed to xemacs-beta.
Because I have my Gnus configured to recognise that xemacs-beta is
a mailing list two magical things happen:
1) Mail-Copies-To: never is set
2) Mail-Followups-To: xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org,
michelle(a)her.email.com is set
You come along and want to reply to the list, Michelle, and to
me. All you do is hit 'F' in the summary buffer and low and
behold you are editing a draft with:
To: xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org
Cc: michelle(a)her.email.com (that Cc might be in the To field
but that doesn't matter)
Mail-Followups-To: xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org,
michelle(a)her.email.com
I get to read it because I'm subscribed to the mailing list.
Michelle gets to read it because of the MFT header. Everyone's
happy.
Or
You decide to reply to just Michelle and I and _not_ the mailing
list. All you do is hit 'R'.
All you need to remember is:
- Use 'R' to reply
- Use 'F' to followup
- You "reply" to private mail, and "followup" to list mail
and
usenet.
I think the most appropriate part of the manual would be:
(Info-goto-node "(gnus)Group Parameters")
And amongst lots of other things, you might want:

This is the one. And that doesn't work. I only get you
(experimentally verified, I don't know why it works that way), so I
must (1) remember that I want to add her, and (2) type her address
correctly.

Wrong. Because even if it did work the way you say (which isn't the
way that it does work) it will work differently for people who set MCT
and MFT differently from you (not to mention that the main DRUMS draft
encourages mailing lists to munge MFT). I _also_ need to remember who
uses experimental protocols designed by Daniel Bernstein that the IETF
explicitly decided not to include in RFC 2822.
There's reason why [RFC Golden Rule] reads "be Puritan about what you
produce, and catholic about what you accept."
