Howdy all.
I recently upgraded our public install of XEmacs here from 21.1.14 to 21.4.12
and all the latest and greatest elisp packages, and some people have been
redoing their Customizations because of this. I've had one person in
particular that just encountered an...oddity...because of this. He was
editing his .cshrc file when it asked him if he wanted to run 'chmod a+x' on
it. Needless to say he was confused so he asked me about it.
After some investigating, it looks like after-save-commands.el (in edit-utils
package v1.98) activates itself simply by being loaded (such as while surfing
through the Customize menus).
Looks like I can stop that by wrapping the add-hook calls and the like in some
sort of init function, but figured that there was probably an "official" way
of doing that so I should probably leave it to someone who knows better than I
what that "official" way is (or perhaps this has already been fixed in CVS or
discussed on the patches list, etc).
