Anyone want to take a stab at making the XEmacs splash screen as sexy as
the new FSF one? :) You can't really tell from this screenshot, but the
bit about 'useful files menu items' actually rotates thru 5 or 6 different
blurbs about different things.
There is also a killer new 'zone' package that provides screensavers for
emacs buffers. Truly bizarre.

What I can infer from the screen shot is that they have pixel-unit
tabbing. We should give Darryl Okahata more support and
encouragement!

Say what? I've got nothing to do with the new GNU Emacs splash
screen, although I wouldn't mind helping to "spiffy up the XEmacs GUI".
[ I'm currently hacking on an "mswindows-like intellisense" mode, where
definitions for standard functions (libc, X11, etc.) auto pop-up while
you edit. It's very useful when you forget, for example, the order of
arguments in XSendEvent(). See attached pic for an early preview. ]

It dosn't look like an Emacs splash screen, it looks like a Gnus
splash screen. The logo is even supposed to _spell_ Gnus, although it
requires some imagination.
