This bug report will be sent to the XEmacs Development Team,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the XEmacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.
Please describe as succinctly as possible:
- What happened.
- What you thought should have happened.
- Precisely what you were doing at the time.
Please also include any C or lisp back-traces that you may have.

Dear Bug Team!
In the text console only, the Shell mode display is faulty. It looks
like this:
[01;32malm@landhaus [01;34malm $ [00m
and running a command in Shell mode produces output like this:
mailfilter: Sending USER
a.l.meyers%consult-meyers.com
mailfilter: Server responded +OK
mailfilter: Sending PASS *****
mailfilter: Server responded +OK
mailfilter: Sending STAT
mailfilter: Server responded +OK
mailfilter: Untersuche 1 Nachricht(en).
mailfilter: Sending LIST 1
mailfilter: Server responded +OK
mailfilter: Sending TOP 1 0
mailfilter: Server responded +OK
+OK
Note all the control symbols at the ends of the lines.
The display in X, on the contrary, is correct.
The prompt line in /etc/profile is:
export PS1='\[\033[01;32m\]\u@\h \[\033[01;34m\]\W \$ \[\033[00m\]'
