Sounds like a recently fixed bug in a different package, I forget what
and I'm not going to get to this today. But since the other usual
suspects are all on vacation :-) I'll suggest searching for "wrong
type argument stringp nil" in the archives and see if something that
looks relevant comes up. Or you could try updating all your XEmacs
packages.
It’s easymenu.el in core, not from packages. The fix has been committed to
21.4 CVS; Michael, you could download that, and load it from your startup
file.
It hasn’t been committed to 21.5; I’ll do that now.
There does exist the possibility that it’s something else, but I’d certainly
try this first.
