Hi!
I am trying to install xemacs-21.5.20 on amy solaris box.
./configure \
--with-gcc \
--with-xpm \
--with-png \
--with-jpeg \
--with-tiff \
--prefix=/home/olivier/apps/xemacs-21.5.20 \
--with-site-includes="/home/olivier/src_loc/xpm-3.4k/X11:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/png:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/tiff/libtiff:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/jpeg"
\
--with-site-libraries="/home/olivier/src_loc/xpm-3.4k/lib:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/png:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/tiff/libtiff:/home/olivier/src_loc/lib_graphics/jpeg"

(since previous builds, I had to replace --site-* with --with-site-*)
Now, configures stops at:
checking for short... yes
checking size of short... configure: error: cannot compute sizeof
(short), 77
See `config.log' for more details.
I tried using ksh and bash as suggested as a renedy for similar problems
on freeBSB, but unsuccessfully.
My config.log is attached.

command-line-argument that failed--which was this:
ld: fatal: option -z has illegal argument `nocombreloc'
ld: fatal: Flags processing errors
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
--say you should be able to add --enable-pdump to the configure script
command line and have it work.

script made configure work.

not like. Use autoconf 2.59's HAVE_DECL_SYS_SIGLIST instead of

Indeed. Try running autoconf and calling the regenerated configure with the
same args--(the checked-in configure doesn’t currently reflect configure.ac,
at least w.r.t. -lossaudio, and that may be the case for your problem too)--
and if that fails, edit src/config.h and comment out the
HAVE_DECL_SYS_SIGLIST macro.

I didn't have autoconf at hand, but simply commented out the
HAVE_DECL_SYS_SIGLIST macro in src/config.h and it built like a charm.
This was extremely helpful.
