"Port"? Last I looked GNU's detection code is just what Ben threw
away in 2002 or so. It's probably not revertible, though. :-(
I meant especially auto-coding-functions; it’s a shame that we can’t pull
the buffer encoding from XML files, say, when it’s usually right there.
