Mike,
Thanks for the info. Can you (or can someone else) summarize the
discussion? Did inertia win? Is there a plan to move forward? Is there
a plan but no implementor(s)? Are there unresolved technical
disagreements? (A pointer to the discussion(s) is fine instead of a
summary.)
One other thing I forgot to mention: Some packages on (at least)
have not been updated since 2003! These are either the
most stable software packages in the universe, or they're never used.
;-) But, their existence makes more sense know that I know there is a
21.4-21.5 package issue.

I'm currently able to access it. I haven't noticed problems with it
recently.

I've found the package automation to be somewhat temperamental. It
works okay from my Solaris box, using the main XEmacs site. But I
usually have problems with the Linux box--something about passive FTP
not being supported on the servers, IIRC. (Though come to think of it,
I don't think I've tried it since I upgraded to openSUSE 11.0.)

I recall running into problems with
us.xemacs.org, too. I reported it,
but I don't remember the outcome. There *is* a
www.us.xemacs.org FWIW.

That's the most recent version at
ftp.xemacs.org, too.
Last I heard, production of new stable packages is stuck, because some
of the packages don't build with 21.4. This issue has been raised a
couple times in the past 10 months or so, but AFAIK it hasn't been fixed
yet. :-(
