OK, Plan B: I have added the directory as follows: $ cd xemacs-packages/auctex $ mkdir images $ cvs add images You should first backup your auctex workspace. Then in your auctex workspace do $ cvs -f update If this works, you should be able to add the files in ./images, and then commit them. Try checking out the auctex module in a temporary workspace to be sure. If it doesn't work, try $ mv images images.tmp $ cvs -f update -d in the main workspace, add and commit the files in images. If this still doesn't work, "mv auctex auctex.tmp", checkout a new workspace, then copy any changed or new files from auctex.tmp to the new workspace and commit it.
