Just applied the all the hpux patches on my machine. Everything is
fine, except xemacs.
Two possibilities come to mind:
1. You've configured XEmacs to use native audio under HP-UX, and you
have an /opt/audio/lib/libAlib.sl newer than (somewhere around)
December 1988. I'm not sure, but I think the audio patch PHSS_17121
(or a superceeding one, like PHSS_17554, PHSS_17971, or PHSS_18777,
etc.) will trigger this. To check if your audio library will cause
problems for XEmacs, run "chatr /opt/audio/lib/libAlib.sl". If
"libdce" appears in the displayed shared library list, XEmacs will
encounter problems if audio is enabled (this is because libdce drags
in threads, which overrides crt0.o and prevents XEmacs from properly
reinitializing the brk value in the dumped executable).
Unfortunately, there's no workaround except to disable native audio.
2. You have the old compiler patch PHSS_17507 (from February, 1999), and
do not have a newer one (I believe at least two others have been
released since then). If you have a newer patch, you're OK, but
you're screwed if PHSS_17507 is the latest one you have.
