This merge erased a lot of ChangeLog entries, and added a lot. Did
we merge an upstream ChangeLog with our package ChangeLog?
I tried not to. I tried to merge the upstream ChangeLog to
ChangeLog.auctex. But maybe the merge played did something I ought to
have observed. I'll have a look at this.
Also, some of the CVS keyword expansions disappeared again; e.g.,
the
$Id$ expansions in preview/preview.el, style/article.el, etc. I think
they mostly don't matter, but the expansion of $Name$ in
preview/preview.el is manipulated by Lisp code.
Yes. I inserted the expansions I though was needed verbatim in a few
files to get the preview.dvi to build.
I'm confused here though. From looking in the auctex upstream git repo
I see no CVS keywords at all in most files. I wonder where we got them
from in our branch (or have the auctex team re-released 11.84 with the
CVS keywords removed?)
It seems like the auctex upstream have done away with the CVS keywords
except for a few. Since we base our packages on upstream releases it
might be OK to just to keep the expanded keywords as released by
upstream?
Also also, the build with texinfo 5.x is broken again:
Hmm... I guess I'm building with an old version still. I was afraid
though this could happen. The 11.84-branch was a bit old so it would
likely contain bad things. Sorry but I thought it would be easier to
fix this from the checked in version than in the branch.
Let me know if you'd like some help fixing these issues.
Please help with the texinfo stuff either by doing it or give me a
pointer what needs to be adjusted. I don't know much about texinfo I'm
afraid. I was happy to figure out how to get the preview.dvi to build
at all.
For the other issues - see the comments above - and we'll take it from
there.
Yours
