Hi all. I've been a XEmacs zombie for too long,
Not at all! Thank you for your service and other contributions over
the years, not limited to package maintenance, but also including
services like an MX for
XEmacs.org.
BTW, for those of you who don't know him well, I discovered recently
that Simon has also contributed to the infrastructure of the Internet,
with his name on a couple of RFCs and popping up in IETF discussions
here and there.
Simon will probably say "it's no big deal, I just wrote down existing
practice", and that's probably pretty much true (eg, he's the listed
author of RFC 4648 (Oct 2006) on the BASEnn transfer encodings --
obviously BASE64 goes way back). But that's hardly surprising, since
the basic stance of the IETF is "if it doesn't have implementations
already working on the Internet, it won't be considered for elevation
to RFC". For me, it's always nice working with guys who know what the
best practices really are!
Thank you again, Simon, and you're always welcome on XEmacs channels.
Steve
