I use smtpmail for sending mail and gnus nnfloder for reading mlist stuff. If I do M-x mail and send some mail, all works fine. If I do this from gnus it says it is sending it , but I don't get the usual smtp exchange in the echo area and the mail is not actually sent (my apologies to those who might have thought I was being more antisocial than usual).
