Not it isn't. It is breaking on the fact that the package include the
MANIFEST file in the MANIFEST file and therefore it already has been
removed in the previous loop deleting all listed files.
Jan's right. However, Andy's just posted a patch that should fix
this particular case.
I'm assuming that the MANIFEST file is listed in the MANIFEST
file. If so, note that this bug WILL AFFECT *ALL* package upgrades, and
not just old/obsolete packages. I foolishly assumed that the MANIFEST
file wasn't listed in the MANIFEST file itself.
Anyway this should all be condition-cased. For instance I might have
deleted some .el files by hand.
However, this case isn't handled.
I sent a patch to that effect to xemacs-patches.
I have not seen this. Could you send me a copy (and verify that
your patch really made it to xemacs-patches)? I need to check that all
cases are handled, and send out a patch ASAP if not.
