You can leave this in place until the issues been decided. I have
negative experience with a similar patch, but let's see what others
think (it's at worst harmless in the short run).

That's a matter of opinion. All it does it print the assertion, which
happens to be somewhat informative in this case. However, I tested a
similar patch for a while, and concluded there was no substitute for
running test-harness interactively, because it's too easy to guess
wrong about where a particular sexp failed, unless you log _all the
results_, PASS as well as FAIL. I wasted a lot of time on two
occasions for this reason, then reverted the patch and went back to
running test-harness interactively.
