CDE is much more standardized than most parts of Unix.
CDE is an attempt by the commercial Unix vendors to have a unified
desktop. CDE is installed into /usr/dt. Thank God the Unix vendors
decided not to innovate with the install directory. The only evil
thing about it seems to be the fact that it is not free software (and
the fact that commercial cooperation initiatives have tendencies to
fail). It falls into the same category as Motif (and supesedes it).
But I don't understand ``Abomination'' - how is /usr/dt different from
/bin/cat??
If you don't build --with-cde or --with-tooltalk or Motif, we still
include /usr/dt on the link line. What's the harm? /usr/dt is STANDARD.
BTW, CDE is also available for Linux.
