Same here.
I haven't handled backgrounds properly in XEmacs, and am whomping up
a patch for that right now that will take the background of the
default face and use that instead of 'almost white'. I don't know
about display, but xv (3.10+png) uses 0,0,0 as the background for
files that don't spec 'em. I'm concerned about the wierdness on the
inside of the penguin, though... Checking...
