Hey everybody!
This is just a note to let you know that I will be releasing 21.4.15
Real Soon Now - probably over the weekend. The only additional patch
I expect to apply before then will be Stephen's specifier
documentation update.
Please prove me wrong - this is your chance to test 21.4 *before* the
official release. Let's find and fix some more bugs before this
weekend. PLEASE take a few moments and download the latest 21.4
sources from CVS and build a new test version. Please don't forget to
send in your build reports.
Future patches targeted at 21.4.16 (i.e. not this release, the next
one):
1. Malcolm Purvis - I'd like to get all the 21.4 GTK bugfixes
applied for 21.4.16.
2. Adrian's patch to sort custom variables.

Certainly. I'll post them soon after 21.4.15 is released.
However, is there any chance that they could be added to 21.5 first? While I
don't think that there'll be any problems, I'd like a few people to try them
before they get put into the stable release.

No special labelling has taken place, so the instructions at
http://www.xemacs.org/Develop/cvsaccess.html will suffice:

I encountered some problems compiling the release-21-4 branch. In
particular, gcc 3.3.1 (cygwin) didn't like the line breaks within a
string in sheap.c. Here is what I did to get it to compile.

currently requires --pdump to build, but I don't build on Cygwin and
can't say with certainty. In any case, I'm very surprised about the
string problem for gcc 3.3.1. I'm pretty sure I've built XEmacs with
gcc 3.3.1 (I don't currently have 3.3.1 lying around or I'd try) -
maybe sheap.c is not required for all configurations?
In any case, if you had to specify --pdump anyway, was the patch you
made to sheap.c necessary?

pdump should not be necessary, Sergey provided a config file for gcc 3 to
work around
the section issues. Maybe this needs updating for gcc 3.3

Are you sure that his patch was for gcc-3? Or maybe his patch never got applied
to CVS? It's been a *long time* since I've been able to build a working xemacs
on cygwin (either 21.4 or 21.5) without --pdump, and I'm pretty sure it started
when I switched to gcc-3.
