Is it too late to request pkginfo/$PACKAGE/MANIFEST?
No. How are people coping with MANIFEST.${PACKAGE}? It's working for
me.
It keeps ls output more manageable, especially if you have lots of
packages installed.
It looks fairly manageable to me:
$ lf pkginfo

MANIFEST.apel MANIFEST.gnats MANIFEST.slider
MANIFEST.auctex MANIFEST.gnus MANIFEST.sounds-au
MANIFEST.bbdb MANIFEST.ispell MANIFEST.supercite
