current portable dumper is, in reality, pretty portable.
Another way that pdump kicks ass is that it's easy (read: possible) to
use tools that manipulate executables, such as Purify and Quantify.
Many external tools were unable to handle executables created by
unexec; OTOH, everything handles executables created by `ld', which is
how portable dumping has it.
