 I think that the problem is with the 
xemacs.org MTA.  When the very
 first line of the message is indented, then 
xemacs.org thinks it is a
 continuation of the last header. 
        That's it! I remember it now. But still, I think David's MTA adds the
Mime paragraph that we get under the X-Mailing-List: header.
 I have put a line at the beginning of my message that should be
mashed 
 into the headers.
