Re: gutter fixes

Tabs seem to disappear from iconified, then deiconified, frames. I don't know under exactly what circumstances. They leave the gutter area behind, though, as empty space. They come back eventually, again I don't know exactly under what circumstances. Playing with the buffers menu adds more tabs. Are the ".shadow" buffers related to tabs? I get more and more confused about which buffers are supposed to have tabs.
