[...] Any suggestions on how to fix this? It seems like gnuclient
needs
to pass $XAUTHORITY to XEmacs, but what should XEmacs do with it? Add it
to the environment?
Add it to the environment before the call to make-frame-on-device, remove it
after the frame’s creation. This may blow up if virtual displays on distinct
machines have identical names and XEmacs is asked to make frames on all of
them, but that’s not something I’m sure of :-( .
Do the X APIs provide a way to specify a particular xauth file?
If this code reflects current practice:
http://tinyurl.com/y2do75 (link goes to AuFileName.c in Google’s code search)
(XauFileName is used in xauth.c , available here:
http://tinyurl.com/yy4q2z )
then there doesn’t appear to be a way to override it in the libraries.

find any pitch, so I used creosote.
