Issue 802: menubar-x.c assertion failure

I have received a bug report via Fedora's bug tracker that appears to be identical to issue 802. The reporter says that the assertion failure is repeatable if he (a) installs the xemacs-ess package, (b) sets up his init files to initialize ESS on startup, and (c) launches XEmacs by clicking on an icon on his KDE desktop. Is anything more known about this crash?
